Biomes

Biomes help decide which maps are worth investing in, which Atlas points matter for a route, and when a map can support a stronger Tablet setup. City maps are the first major target because they can use an additional Tablet and they are tied to Citadels, Halls, and Pinnacle fragment progression.

Biomes are map-area categories on the Atlas. They matter when the main Atlas tree adds rewards or mechanics to specific area types, such as City, Mountain, Forest, Grass, Desert, Swamp, or Water.

The value of a biome depends on the strategy. City maps are usually premium targets because Industrial Improvements allows an additional Tablet on City Maps, and several City routes point toward Citadel or Hall content that feeds Pinnacle boss progression.

City maps are high-value Atlas targets. Use them for expensive Tablet setups, Citadel pathing, Hall pathing, and strategies that benefit from extra City Atlas points.

Good City Strategies

StrategyCity setupNotes
Fourth-Tablet farmingAllocate Industrial Improvements, then run valuable City maps with four Tablets.Best when the Waystone and target content justify spending the extra Tablet.
Fragment farmingPath toward Citadels, Patriarch Halls, and Matriarch Halls.Citadel bosses and Hall bosses can drop Pinnacle fragments. With the right fragment-farming setup, these bosses can drop more than one fragment.
Arbiter of Divinity unlockFarm or buy Origin Spark and Origin Cradle, then rerun Arbiter of Divinity.Running Arbiter of Divinity 5 times unlocks the full main Atlas tree. The first run comes through initial progression; runs 2 through 5 use drops from the Matriarch and Patriarch.
Faridun Tablet overlapTake History of the Faridun, set Mountain Mastery to Tablet quantity, and use Faridun Cities as Mountain Areas.Combines City fourth-Tablet value with Mountain Tablet quantity.
Ezomyte biome overlapTake History of the Ezomytes when Grass or Swamp bonuses support the farm.Useful when a City strategy also wants the secondary biome bonus.
Vaal biome overlapTake History of the Vaal when Forest or Water bonuses support the farm.Useful when a City strategy also wants the secondary biome bonus.

City maps can absorb more investment than normal maps when Industrial Improvements is active. Save the fourth Tablet for maps with a real payoff: a Citadel, a Hall route, a strong mechanic target, or a Waystone that already has valuable modifiers.

Setup choiceRecommendation
TabletsUse four Tablets only on City maps that justify the extra cost.
WaystonesPrefer strong Tier 15 or higher Waystones when the City target is tied to fragments, bossing, or an expensive mechanic farm.
Route planningFollow beam targets first, then decide whether the revealed City is worth full Tablet investment.

MistakeBetter approach
Spending four Tablets on every City map.Save the fourth Tablet for strong Waystones, Citadel routes, Hall routes, or valuable mechanic targets.
Treating every blue beam the same.Confirm the Citadel type: Iron points to Ezomyte City, and Copper points to Faridun City.
Ignoring thick orange beams.Use thick orange beams without swirls to locate Patriarch Halls or Matriarch Halls for Arbiter of Divinity fragments.
Forgetting the internal fragment setup.Use the Fragments guide when setting up Waystones, Tablets, and Atlas Master points for Pinnacle fragment drops.
